CHORUS MANAGEMENT TEAM
Pam Murray: Team Coordinator - Pam became a Sweet Adeline in 2016, joining the San Diego Chorus as a baritone. She has been singing and performing in various singing groups and musical theater since the age of 4. Pam graduated from UCSD with a major in Drama and a minor in Music, Vocal Performance. With over a 30 year background in corporate leadership, global supply chain, procurement, contracting and entertainment management, she is putting those skills to work in Sweet Adelines. Pam also plays guitar and sings baritone in So Noted Quartet.
Kathleen Hansen: Master Director - Kathleen joined the San Diego Chapter of Sweet Adelines in 2000, making history in the International Chorus Competition by doing handsprings across the Portland Rose Arena stage and helping propel San Diego to a gold medal. Introduced to barbershop by watching top-level quartets and choruses, Kathleen has since rooted her experiences with Sweet Adelines in elevated expectations that are reflected in her drive to challenge the chorus and herself for the highest quality performance. This talented baritone was quickly pulled into featured roles and leadership positions. In 2015, she was awarded Master Director status after directing the San Diego Chorus on the International stage, and she has directed the chorus to first place in subsequent Regional competitions. In 2004, her quartet Last Call won the women's barbershop category in the Buckeye Invitational. Kathleen's origins are in musical education. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Education with a specialization in trumpet, a Master's of Music in Instrumental Conducting, and a teaching credential for secondary education in music from San Diego State University. Recently, she was honored to join the Sweet Adelines International Faculty in a 3-year teaching appointment. Sweet Adeline of the Year 2013.
Cindy McAdams: CMT Finance Chair - Cindy joined the San Diego Chorus in 2010 as a new Sweet Adeline. Her background in banking, her family’s retail stores and her own business are where she learned Quickbooks and other business skills needed to be Finance Chair. She served as Business Development Chair in 2012, then learned Finale to help transcribe chorus repertoire. She loves numbers, so spreadsheets and Quickbooks are just as easy as sight-reading music for her. She learned piano as a toddler and played many other instruments in middle and high school. She played flute and piccolo in various bands including field, parade, pep, jazz, concert and county honor bands. She also accompanied her soloist peers on piano. Cindy loves to perform singing bass in the chorus, with Jukebox Quartet and in small groups.
Diane Thornewell: Events/Operations – Diane joined Sweet Adelines in 1993, singing lead and then bass in the Potomac Harmony Chorus in Arlington, VA. Diane worked as a Contracting Officer for the Department of the Navy, was transferred to San Diego and joined the San Diego Chorus in 1997, where she sings lead. Diane has been very active in chorus administration in both of her choruses, having served as Secretary for Potomac Harmony and as Secretary, Finance Chair and Membership Chair for SDSA. She has served in chorus administration for over 18 of the 25 years she has been in Sweet Adelines.
Marina Hayden: Membership - Marina joined the San Diego Chorus in 1993 as a bass. Marina has always been a member of the front row and the visual team, currently serving as the front row coordinator. She also is the coach coordinator and responsible for caring for the wonderfully talented coaches that help make our chorus better. Marina proudly sings bass in SoloVoce quartet, who recently won 4th place in the 2019 Region 21 competition. Marina’s husband, Steve, is very supportive of SoloVoce and the San Diego Chorus, as are their 3 college-aged children. Marina worked for many years as an Emergency and ICU RN but currently has 2 part time jobs; working as a Review Editor for a medical journal and the operations manager of her martial arts studio. Amy Overon-Buck: Secretary - Amy joined the San Diego chorus in 2016 singing baritone. Amy sang in high school and college choruses and musical theater. She majored in music (voice) in college for 3 years then changed her major to Early Childhood Education. After a 36 year career as an elementary school teacher she decided to enrich her retirement by singing again. This is her first time to be in chorus administration and she is enjoying being CMT secretary.
Andrea Chertkow: Business Development - Andrea is new to Sweet Adelines, joining the San Diego Chorus in 2019 singing bass. Her background has been in instrumental music, playing clarinet and piano while in school. Andrea graduated from UCSD with a major in Management Science. She is a Senior Tax Content Analyst with Intuit and an Enrolled Agent. Singing with the San Diego Chorus gives her a much needed creative release to a life otherwise consumed with tax law and regulations.
Jaemi Lehmann: Events Coordinator/ Pilot Program Liaison - Jaemi joined the San Diego Chorus in 2018, singing Lead. She was thrilled to be able to join Sweet Adelines and SDSA. Jaemi began singing as a 13 year active Girl Scout, and joined her first chorus in high school. She also sang with a community college chorus & her high school's alumni chorus in 2014.Each job since high school has promoted her to being in charge of event-type projects, promotional materials and marketing design or coordination. Recently, Jaemi has been taking great interest in turning her household into a self-sufficient, low-to-zero-waste home. She also takes a great interest in recent political movements, encouraging more inclusive environments in every aspect of life, for all people; and focusing on education and advocacy for the most marginalized groups in America. Part of her "Sweet Adelines 5 Year Plan" is to join or be a founding member of her first quartet.
